Excellent photo – your photo makes me think of a lesson in my 8th grade sciecne class where we balance two forks on the rim of a beaker – it appears as if it won’t work, but because the forces are balanced the fork is balance precariously. I saved your photo for future use – thank you! Have a great day.

      1. School was in FULL BLOOM when I left my comment. I used the photo on a quiz about forces. I asked my students to draw a force diagram of that they saw. My were able to translate your picture into pairs of contact forces as a well as pairs of forces acting at a distance. Using your photo was helpful. In fact a couple asked if I knew Irene Tron, I told them I did not but had borrowed your photo. Thank you. I enjoy your photos adn your blog, but during the school year I get buried in work. Again, thank you.
