  1. On the ferry passage across Matsushima Bay, local kids would hold bits of food in the air for the gulls to retrieve. The birds would glide down, hovering in the wind just above their outstretched hands. I’ll have to find a photo I suddenly had the sense to take on one of the passages. The Tōhoku earthquake hit just a couple of months later.

    1. Hi, Euphrates. We have lots of seagulls along the Lake Michigan lakeshore so I get lots of chances to click the shutter of my camera. This one seemed to intentionally glide overhead with its wings outstretched. Thanks for stopping by.
