What a handsome fellow! Having (barely) survived our cat chasing a hay horse (an alternative name for a Grashรผpfer / grass hopper in German) through our living room yesterday I took your title literally at first and marvelled at the patience of your cat. ๐ Of course, I soon realised that it wasn’t a cat’s tail you were talking about, I know this plant as a bullrush.
That is too funny! Donโt think an actual cat would stand for that at all. ๐ Iโve never heard it call a bullrush but apparently it is the same thing.
Ohh! Your camera caught one too. ๐ But yours is much greener than mine. I wonder if mine was really a locust.

Good question. Donโt even think about locusts often but you may be right. ๐

Thanks! It was a very cooperative grasshopper. Not many like that around. ๐

Great photo. There seemed to be more grasshoppers than usual this year in my backyard, but they never sat still long enough to photograph.

Yes, they are super quick. Really surprised this one stayed long enough for me to click. ๐

I tried so many times to photograph a grasshopper and they always jumped before I got one! Challenging insect, great job & awesome shot, Irene!! ๐

Iโve tried several times since taking this shot and have not succeeded again. Just clicked at the right time, I guess. ๐
