Winter at the Dunes

Welcome to winter at the Indiana Dunes State Park.  As you arrive, you may be greeted by a frozen Lake Michigan covered by shelf ice.

Since walking onto shelf ice is extremely dangerous and not recommended, you may want to venture to the top of Devil’s Slide.

Once you make it to the top, sledding is allowed from here.  Or, just enjoy the view of Lake Michigan and the beach house from the top of the sand dune.

Cross-country skiing is also possible on most of the trails or bring your snowshoes along. Pick up a trail map at the park office or print from the Indiana Dunes State Park website.  Stop by and experience winter at the Indiana dunes.  Camp grounds are open all year round.
