After a day of temperatures hovering around -18˚ F, I find myself dreaming of waking up to meet tomorrow’s sunrise with the warmth of the Caribbean Sea splashing on my feet.

A City Enclosed

For centuries San Juan, Puerto Rico was a city enclosed by a 3-mile wall.  Access in and out was only through one of five gates, each one with a specific purpose.

Puerta de San Juan – San Juan Gate

This gate was San Juan’s formal entrance for Spanish dignitaries.  By entering through this gate, they were able to walk a short distance to San Juan Cathedral to thank God for safety during their voyage.
